(71 - 75 days) The Ukrainian word druzhba means "friendship", and this unfussy heirloom, originating from Bulgaria, certainly is friendly to gardeners. The highly productive, disease tolerant plants produce 8 - 12 ounce, deep red, slightly flattened fruit in clusters of three to five. The tomatoes have a good balance of meat to juice and the flavor is robust. The strong and heavily leaved indeterminate plants do not grow much more than 5 feet tall, but are better caged to keep fruit from rotting on the ground. Druzba was introduced to the U.S. by Norbert Parreira of France and first offered to SSE members by Carolyn Male.
