Martino's Roma,   Heirloom

(75 - 80 days?)  Bright red  2oz - 3" long, meaty, paste-type fruit.  This Italian heirloom is excellent for cooking and canning but also delicious eaten fresh.  Martino is a determinate variety that is more resistant to blossom end rot and early blight than most paste tomatoes.  The plant grows 3 to 4 feet tall and has dark green, rugose (puckered) foliage.  Martino's Roma was found in 1991 by Maureen Conway, an SSE member, being grown by an 87 year old Italian gardener in the Finger Lakes region of New York. His source was a friend who had brought seed from Italy.
