Viva Italia,  hybrid

(72 - 74 days)   Expect heavy sets of firm, 3 oz,. blocky, plum-shaped, red  tomatoes that grow on compact plants.   The hybrid plant is very disease resistant, and the rich tasting fruit have solid flesh and are easily peeled.   Viva forms a stocky,  short bushy plant that could be container grown.
Being a true determinate,  the fruit will ripen over a concentrated  3 - 4 week season  which suits most canners to a tee.  Its meatiness and thick walls make it a perfect tomato for sauces,  salsa,  ketchup, or sun-drying.     Viva Italia is also good eaten sliced or in salads.
